| The Brown Club Tennis Team owes much of its success to our past captains, Alex Baker and Paul Bixenstine. Members of the classes of 2009 and 2008 respectively, Alex and Paul put in an extraordinary amount of effort to build up our program from a couple of members who competed a few times a year to a national contender with several weekly practices. Their countless hours meeting with the Athletic Department, scheduling matches and fund raising have given many Brown students the chance to continue playing competitive tennis. We know that their spirits will always be with us on the court and that their commanding presence will be felt for years to come. |

| On October 21st, the Brown Club Tennis Team hosted a Bake Sale in the lobby of the Sciences Library. Profits will be put toward tournament fees, balls, and travel expenses. On Saturday, October 23, Brown hosted its first Family Weekend Tournament. Teams from all over the Northeast came to compete for a much coveted stuffed Brown Bear, for the entertainment of parents and players alike. As our size has grown, the Brown Club Tennis Team has been able to take a more active role in the community around us. In 2009 and 2010 we attended the Midnight Madness fundraiser tournament in Boston. We played tennis from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am, taking breaks to down energy drinks, in order to raise money for charity. |
