| The Marquette University Club Tennis Team prides itself on being an entirely student run organization open to all who love to play tennis at a competitive level. Our club is for those players who played at a high level of competition in high school who wish to keep tennis as a vital component of their lives without the constraints of a varsity schedule and also wish to stay active and competitive, enjoy practice, and be in good company. We practice year-round, 3 times a week, being one of the few teams in the area with access to indoor court time provided by the university. We provide a competitive but laid back atmosphere at practice while focusing on creating an enjoyable and stress relieving environment, while still improving our game to maintain and advance our level of competition. While having a good time at practice and while traveling is important to us, as a club sports team, tennis is obviously the focus, just on a more holistic level than one may find at the varsity level. By having combined practices with the entire team, not separating those who travel and those who do not as some programs do, we truly try to concentrate on the importance of team unity and creating a cohesive and open atmosphere reflective of Marquette's Jesuit mission and commitment to each student's total well-being and betterment. This has not only led to the improvement of all member's abilities, but has allowed us to compete at a national level. Having attended the USTA National Campus Championship several times in the past, Marquette has proven that it's a serious contender and one that will continue to compete with great sportsmanship and enthusiasm. While creating a consistently competitive yet fun atmosphere and with the opportunity to practice multiple times each week, year-long (something for which we are extremely gracious for in Wisconsin!), the Marquette Club Tennis Teams aims to continue to bring an enjoyable tennis environment to players wishing to continue to compete and be a part of a team throughout their college years. |
