| The University of Arkansas Tennis Club was founded in the fall of 2006 by Chelsey Castrodale. It was the first, and is currently the only collegiate tennis club in the state of Arkansas. The club was off to a slow start due to difficulty in securing a permanent practice facility. In our first two years, the team traveled to play in events in both the Texas and Missouri Valley sections, becuase of our distant location in the Southern section. Finally, this past spring, the UofA competed in our first USTA Campus Championship - Southern, finishing very well for our first Southern showing! The club has overcome a lot and has doubled in size since its first year, including players of all levels. Our mission is to provide a fun and organized environment for the university community to play tennis both recreationally and competitively. We offer voluntary practices 2 to 3 days a week for all of our players, and take both competitive and recreational teams to matches and tournaments. |
