| South Carolina Club Tennis Team History Kelly Lowe, Neal Robinson, and Jordan Temple formed the club in November 2006 in an effort to grow competitive and recreational tennis at the University of South Carolina. Despite forming just six months before the 2007 USTA National Campus Championship, the club earned a spot in the 64 team field and won the copper bracket, coming in 49th place overall. In 2008, the team improved upon the previous year's finish by 20 spots, earning a spot in the silver bracket and finishing in 29th place overall. In 2009, the club came in third at the South Carolina Campus Championship, and then went on to place third at the USTA Campus Championship - Southern in Dothan, Alabama. At the 2009 USTA National Campus Championship in Surprise, Arizona, the team placed 23rd. At the 2011 Southern Sectional Championship the team finished 3rd place. At the 2011 National Championship the team finished 22nd. South Carolina Club Tennis Team Mission Statement Club Tennis at the University of South Carolina caters to both the highly competitive and recreational player. We strive to produce an elite travel team that is among the best in the southeast on an annual basis. At the same time we aim to provide recreational players with the opportunity to play tennis year-round. South Carolina Club Tennis Team Practice Information The Competitive Team has practices on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for 1.5-2 hours. Players are encouraged to make at least two out of the three practices if they wish to remain eligible for matches and tournaments. These practices are centered around drills and matchplay in preparation for matches and tournaments, |

| Social Events Our team strives not only to be a sports club, but also to be a community. We try to have at least 2 social events each month so that members of all skill levels in the club can get to know one another and enjoy spending time together off the tennis court. Some past events include: tailgating, dinners, and barbeques. Community Service Our team finds community service to be an essential aspect of being part of the greater Columbia community. In the spring of 2010 we began an ongoing service relationship with a Special Olympics Tennis Team at Pleasant Hill Middle School. Each month members of our team volunteer at the team’s monthly practice. We also raised money for the team in a charity tennis tournament and did a special send off for the team when it headed to Hilton Head for the National Special Olympics Tennis Event. Our team also strives to organize a charity tournament each semester. In the past we have raised money for Run, Jump, and Play; the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund; and the Special Olympics. |
