| The Washington State University Recreation Board approved the tennis club on November 4, 2005. Cougar Club Tennis was founded by Will Taylor and Amina Doar with help from Abbey Elliott, Mark Kuzyk, and AJ Antonio. On the same day the club became official, these five founding members of the club headed down to Beaverton, Oregon, from Pullman, Washington, to represent WSU Club Tennis Team for the first time at the USTA Campus Championship - Pacific Northwest. With a team that consisted of only three men and two women, WSU shocked the club tennis community by taking third place and making its historical mark on the Pacific Northwest Club Tennis scene. At the 2006 and 2007 USTA Campus Championship - Pacific Northwest, WSU CCT took fifth and fourth place, respectively. Since its inception, CCT has continued to be one of the largest clubs on the WSU campus. In its first year, CCT had over 100 active members. Currently at the beginning of the 2008-09 season, the club has 68 members and continues to grow every day. |
