| The Western Washington University Club Tennis Team was founded 10 years ago shortly after the termination of the varsity program. Like all the athletic clubs at Western, every member of the tennis team is incredibly enthusiastic about playing and competing at the highest level possible. The Western team always makes a strong recruiting effort to pull in talented players from Washington State. Every player has strong ties with schools, leagues, and clubs back in their home towns, and the club takes full advantage of these relationships in keeping their roster strong. Western Washington University is also the host of the annual Viking Showdown, a WTT format tournament for schools in the USTA Pacific Northwest section. The Western club is very enthusiastic about attending as many tournaments as possible, attending the USTA Campus Championship - Pacific Northwest annually, traveling to LA and Victoria, as well as being the only club in the nation to have attended the USTA National Campus Championship every single year since its inception, where they have reached the Bronze Final in 2006 and 2008 (winning in '06). Like all the Tennis On Campus programs, Western has built their club on one pillar: the love of the game! |
