USTA Tennis On Campus Missouri Valley Championship
The first USTA Tennis On Campus Missouri Valley Championship was held in 2005 at Kingspointe Tennis Club in Belleville, Ill. The event started with just six teams from four schools, but has since taken off. The 2010 USTA Campus Championship - Missouri Valley in Springfield, Mo. had 16 teams from 15 universities! The event is played using the coed World TeamTennis format, which ofers teams the opportunity to compete in mens and womens singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Top placing teams receive automatic bids to attend the USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship on behalf of the USTA Missouri Valley Section. 2013 USTA Tennis On Campus Missouri Valley Championship Recap
After several years of making it to the Gold Bracket of the USTA Missouri Valley Tennis on Campus Championships and coming up just short of reaching national, the Washington University team finally broke through in a big way. The Bears topped area rival St. Louis University in the finals this past weekend at the Tennis on Campus section championships, held March 2-3 at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri. All told, 15 teams competed during the weekend and three -- Washington University, St. Louis and third-place finishers Oklahoma -- advanced to represent the section at the Tennis on Campus National Championships.
