| The USTA Tennis On Campus Southern Championship is a fun, competitive and exciting event for collegiate tennis club teams from across the USTA Southern Section. The first event took place in 2005 with only 7 teams from 6 schools and has grown into a true championship tournament! Top placing teams at the USTA Tennis On Campus Southern Championship are granted automatic bids to the USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship and received a stipend from the USTA Southern Section to attend the National Championship. The College of Charleston claimed the title of 2013 Tennis On Campus Southern Section Champion, advancing on to Nationals this year in Arizona.
Teams that have also earned bids to Nationals: Duke University will also advance to Nationals as the 2012 USTA TOC Fall Invitational Champions.
The Southern tournament hosted 52 club teams from 36 schools, boasting players from throughout the nine USTA Southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. One team – Texas A & M Texarkana – competed because it is located in a small portion of Texas that in the Southern Section. |
