The Northeastern University Club Tennis Team, has won the USTA Tennis On Campus New England Championship two years in a row and will now advance to the 2015 National Championship.

USTA Tennis On Campus New England Championship is a fun and competitive event for collegiate club and intramural tennis teams from across the USTA New England section.  The first championship took place in 2007 with over 100 students on 12 teams from 7 schools. The tournament uses the co-ed World TeamTennis format and the winning team is granted an automatic bid to the USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship.  They receive a USTA Tennis On Campus New England Championship shirt as well as a stipend to attend Nationals.

2014-2015 USTA Tennis On Campus New England Championship Recap

The ninth Tennis On Campus New England Championship is in the books. Twenty-four teams competed on October 4-5 at Harvard University and Boston University for a spot to the National Championships. After two days of terrific competition, Northeastern University defended their title as New England Champions.

The Tennis On Campus New England Championship invites all collegiate club teams from around New England and is the largest tournament in the section for these teams. The top five teams qualify for the National Championships on April 9-11 in Cary, North Carolina.

Teams competed in pool play using World TeamTennis format on Saturday to determine the bracket they would play in on Sunday. After the first day of play, Northeastern, Boston College, Harvard, Dartmouth, UMass Amherst, Yale, Brown, and Tufts advanced to the gold bracket to contend for the championship. Based on winning percentage in pool play, Bryant, BU, UVM, UCONN, UNH, WPI, MIT and URI moved on to the silver bracket and CCSU, Bowdoin, UMass Lowell, Maine, Clark, Holy Cross and Champlain were placed in the bronze bracket.

Northeastern, Dartmouth, BC, Harvard, and UMass Amherst will now look forward to representing New England at Nationals in April. The winning team received a prize for each player, a banner, and a travel stipend for nationals.
