2011 Gopher Invite Recap

Sixteen Teams participated in the 2011 Gopher Invite at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.  Only one team could emerge victorious, and that team was the University of Illinois' "A" Team, who defeated the home crowd favorites from the University of Minnesota's "A" Team.

The tournament took place over the course of two days, with all sixteen teams being divided into four pools of four teams.  The top teams from play on Saturday were then divided into four brackets - Gold, Silver, Bronze & Copper - based on their pool results.  Bracket play started bright and early on Sunday.    

Marquette University won the top spot in the Silver Bracket over North Dakota State University.  The University of North Dakota's "A" Team beat out Loyola University for the top spot in the Bronze Bracket.  And the Copper Bracket saw the University of Wisconsin - Stout beat out the University of North Dakota's "B" Team.  It was a fantastic weekend of tennis, and everyone enjoyed the competition.
