More than 40 colleges and universities across the United States have launched Tennis On Campus programs in 2009!  With the total number of TOC schools now exceeding 500, serving more than 30,000 players, Tennis On Campus is one of the fastest growing and most popular college activities in the country.

“We are delighted by the continued strong growth of Tennis On Campus,” said Kurt Kamperman, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, United States Tennis Association.  “Only a small fraction of the 340,000 high school tennis players continue to compete at the Intercollegiate Varsity level.  Tennis On Campus fills the void for the great majority of students who love tennis and want to stay in the game,” he added.

The success of the USTA Tennis On Campus program is a clear indication of the growing popularity of the sport on college campuses nationwide.  Tennis On Campus provides students with the opportunity to participate on a non-varsity coed team in a fun, competitive and healthy environment.

Each college club tennis team competes in a full schedule of USTA Tennis On Campus League or Series events throughout the year that lead to the USTA Campus Championship - Section Events.  The culmination of the 2009-2010 Tennis On Campus season is the USTA National Campus Championship, which will be held April 15-17, 2010 in Surprise, Arizona with 64 teams who earn bids from the 17 USTA Sectional events.

“Every team enters the season with the opportunity to compete for the USTA National Campus Championship,” added Glenn Arrington, National Manager, USTA Tennis On Campus.  “Tennis On Campus allows the opportunity for so many players to stay in a game they love without the rigors of a varsity program,” he added.
